Taylor McCall mentions picking up this book while writing songs in isolation by a lake. He says 'I picked up picked up a book and Tyler the book was Gentleman Swords and pistols. And that spiraled into like this whole song about that.' The book apparently inspired his songwriting about the Quartermaster song.
